prominent Choir Director Alida Rawl

Can you help us find Santa, they asked with a plea,

Oh where can he, where can he, where can he be.

But Sherlock just smiled as he puffed on his pipe,

He knew Santa was safe and their worries were hype,

He invited them in to his warm cozy room

And with a wave of his hand he dispelled all their

     gloom,

For there in the study in his hat and red suit,

Was the jolly old man and a few elves to boot.

They were asleep in a club chair by  Sherlock Holmes

     tree,

And the reason said Sherlock was element’ry,

For he and old Santa were friends from way back,

And he had invited him there for a rest and some

     smack,

And Santa was sleeping after two snorts and a toke,

Two beers and a cognac and some bourbon and coke,

He had worked hard all year and needed a break

And had come to see Sherlock for his good health’s

     sake,

But don’t worry said Sherlock, he’ll soon be all right,

And back at the North Pole before Christmas Night.

I want to thank you for coming but there’s no mystery,

This was a time of relaxing for old Santa and me,

So go tell the others, that all is alright,

And Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Jim then recites his poem:

A Sherlock Holmes Christmas

‘Twas a Sherlock Holmes Christmas and on Baker

     Street,

The children and grown-ups had gathered to meet,

But their faces were drawn and quite solemn and tight,

For Santa was missing and it was nearly the night,

For him and his reindeer to take to the sky

From North Pole to London they were destined to fly

With presents for children and good cheer for all

But now he was missing and they knew where to call.

The world’s greatest detective lived at 221 B

And Sherlock could solve the sad mystery

Of what happened to Santa on this tragic day

Could he have been kidnapped and taken away,

They had to find Sherlock, and ask for his help,

They opened his door and saw the great man him-self.
